Investing in the property market The Independent looks at ways of investing in the UK property market without buying a house. The paper highlights a new UK fund launched by Mill Group Residential which is said to be the first REIT to invest exclusively in the mainstream residential sector. The trust aims to yield 3% after costs and says it will list on the London Stock Exchange next month, at which point investors will be able to trade their shares. The minimum investment is £1,000 via the crowdfunding platform Syndicate Room. Another way into the residential market is buying shares in individual housebuilders or other property-related companies. The paper comments that getting into commercial property is easier and suggests investing in bricks and mortar funds that invest directly in factories, offices, retail centres and storage facilities. Patrick Connolly, financial adviser at Chase de Vere, recommends M&G Property Portfolio, Henderson UK Property and L&G UK Property. via The Independent Page: 58
