Henna is being used as Natural Dye in Textiles, Cosmetics, Tattoos, Hair Dyes, Hair Care Products, Leather Processing, Beauty, Health and Skin Care Industries. There is huge potential for Henna in future because the awareness generation on the side effects of synthetic dyes and the health benefits of Henna. The global natural dyes industry is catching up in a very fast mode and the expected trade volume would be 100 Billion USD annually and it is ever increasing. In view of the increasing commercial demand and market scope for natural dyes we have considered the proposed Henna Plantations Project attached with Value Addition Industry would be the most promising and remunerative. Henna is rain fed crop and it withstands severe drought situations. It is maintenance free, non grazing, pest free, long living and sustains for more than 50 years. The farmers are eagerly looking for alternative crops because of the climate shift, ground water depletion, pest attacks and power shortage issues. Henna is going to be a better solution to the dry land farmers because it gives promising returns when compare with any other traditional rain fed crops. Being India is a tropical country it is quiet suitable for raising of more than 100 varieties of high demand natural dyes & gums yielding plantations. We have planned to enter in to contract farming arrangement with 10,000 small and marginal farmers @ 1Hectare each involving them in to farming activities in clusters of 1,000 Hectares each in and around Hyderabad within 50 KM radius. Once the targeted plantation activity is done we will have 2 years time for commercial scale of leaf production and by that time we can set up the Process Industry Complex to manufacture different value added products such as Henna Powder, Henna Hair Packs, Mehendi Cones, Henna Paste Tubes, Liquified Natural Dyes, Natural Tattoos etc. The profit margins after value addition is almost 5 times more if compared with direct selling of shade dried Henna Leaves. The investment required in the beginning towards plantation activity per Hectare would be USD 1000 and the maintenance cost per Hectare for the first two years would be USD 1000. The total investment towards plantation and maintenance for 10000 hectares would be around USD 20 Million. After completion of the first year we have to be ready for setting up the value addition unit which may run in to USD 2 Million. There would be the administrative costs per Hectare @USD 200 and the total cost for 10000 Hectares comes to USD 2 Million. The revenue flow starts on commercial scale will start from 3rd year onwards. The promising ROI would be @ 36% per annum and the capital pay back would be within 5 years after the commercial scale production starts. The major Henna Value Added Products importing countries from India are Japan, Korea, Turkey, Middle East, China, USA, UK, Canada, Malaysia, Sudan, Singapore, Brunei etc. This eco friendly socio economic project is going to be 100% pollution free. It is a sustainable project in terms of income on capital, foreign exchange earnings, employment generation and tax revenue to the government. We have decade of experience in this field in terms of Nursery Raising, Plantation Practices, Inter Cultivation, Post Harvest Measures, Value Addition and Marketing.
