Invitation to Participate in the Forum on “Africans and the African Diaspora: Co-Defining Paths for Africa’s Transformation” Part of the CFA Ronald H. Brown African Affairs Series Washington D.C., September 27, 2014 Dear Colleagues, It is our pleasure to invite you to participate in the forum on “Africans and the African Diaspora: Co-Defining Paths for Africa’s Transformation” on September 27, 2014, in Washington D.C. The event is co-organized by Consortium of African Diaspora in the US (CADUS), Constituency for Africa (CFA), the Center for Finance, Law and Policy of Boston University, and OXFAM. It builds on the success of our previous forum that took place on April 12, 2014, titled “African Diaspora and Development: What Partnership?” This event aims to highlight the power of the African Diaspora and explore its possibilities to contribute to the economic and social development in African communities. The Forum builds on the development agenda of the African Union that focuses on creating possibilities for sustainable dialogue, partnerships, and Pan-Africanist solidarity to advance Africa and its Diaspora. Our goal is to bring together public and private sector representatives, academics, regulators and financial industry actors, the development community, and most importantly, members of the African Diaspora and Americans of African heritage and descent, to foster discussion about leveraging African Diaspora contributions to Africa’s development. It is also our intention to learn from other Diasporas in the U.S. to share experience and knowledge. Please see the attached Preliminary Program for more details. Should you wish to participate as a speaker, please let us know the topic(s) of your choice by August 1st, 2014. RSVP is required at Jeannette Kah Le Guil, [email protected]. We look forward to your participation. “Africans and African Diaspora - Implementation of the UN CRPD to Break Barriers toward Disability-Inclusive Development in National, Regional, and International Levels” – October 15, 2014 In addition, CADUS will be honored by your participation in our Panel Discussion at the Global Diaspora Week by International Diaspora Engagement Alliance (IdEA).
