Ioan Gruffudds all-new fall series on ABC is called Forever. It seems to be about a physician/surgeon who has lived for centuries and taken on different identities in different periods of history. I may actually sample this show; I like Ioan. I enjoyed him in the live-action version of 101 Dalmatians. I enjoyed him in Century City, a series about lawyers in the future that was on CBS for about five minutes. Come to think of it, I never did get round to watching his miniseries version of the Horatio Hornblower novels of C.S. Forester. (You may know that Horatio Hornblower, the fictional nautical hero, was the basis for Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek.) And I liked him as Reed Richards, Mr. Fantastic. It wasnt his fault that those Fantastic Four movies hit so many wrong notes; he would have been brilliant as a fully authentic Reed in a fully authentic adaptation of The FF. Like Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern (who seems to be being swapped out for Chris Pine for the Justice League of America movie), he performed in the films they gave him and did his best with them.
