Ipad flash cards & vcd or hardcopy flashes? Most common question I - TopicsExpress

Ipad flash cards & vcd or hardcopy flashes? Most common question I got these few days from mummies (thank you all the mummies for ur questions and ur inputs, I learnt loads fr u guys). My answer (based on what I know only. I don’t claim to be an expert on right brain training. I just am a mother who has successfully taught her own children and children of frens with visible results) Two routes to the same results. Whether its via physical hardcopies of flash cards (lets call this RBT for right brain training) or elmo vcd or ipad flash aps.. the kid learns his abcs. Either way works. The first difference is time. If the kid plays with the ipad all the time on the same prog or watch the same elmo all the time. Will he know abc, of coz he will. He can even recite the starting of the show. “hi everyone, my name is elmo. Hee hee hee hee lala lala elmo’s world” this is drilling. Considering how brilliant the brains of our babies, of coz if you drill they will know. This is no surprise. And with RBT, our babies also knows his abc.. but shorter time.. no need drill. Just flash a few times MAX (rem never to reuse cards too much). Point is this. Other than the fact that yes, the ipad and tv is bad for the eyes, the kind of training impacts how the bb learns the next thing. If you want to teach 123 next, buy an elmo cd and once again show the same amount of time, or even longer coz 1-100 is definitely more info to absorb compared to 26 alphabets? Once again u drill in the info. But in a RBT kid, the fact that he was flashed before, his ability to learn increases tremendously. It takes lesser time to teach him 1 – 100 now. If you wan to do multiplication table, buy a cd. Play like a mth. Also play the song on the cd in the car. Play and play and play. Drill it in the child. Takes eons. In the RBT baby, its as fast as abc.. or maybe faster.. the more you flash and stimulate the right brain, the faster it learns. I have yet to see a child play ipad and watch elmo and yet read at 2 like my girl. But I have seen children doing amazing math sums at age of 2, those that involves numerous ( and ) and involves all = - * divide in one equation that is mind boggling. Imagine the hours of drilling that needs to be done via vcd. If that is even possible. So you end up having a problem like mine. I used to flash ash the same title for more than a week before she will know it and I have to change cards. Now, I can’t catch my breathe making cards. I take 3 days to finish one set, I flash her for less than a minute, she knows it all. I flashed time cards (gosh do till die. Every 5 mins fr 12 am to 12 pm). Flash 3 times she knows (look at vid. She could tell time). I flashed world flags twice. (mind u, its such a thick stack even I find it hard to flash and out of breathe when reading). When I took up Myanmar and Sri Lankan and ask her to choose, she chose the correct one.. TWICE flash.. gosh.. my skin crawls at the tot.. there goes that stack of cards and that three days of hard work. But honestly, that is such a good problem to have isn’t it? And so I tot I better use the cards on didi before blessing. At least I feel that the cards are used. Check out that vid. Didi was flashed the world flags twice. Check out the end.. admittedly I had to “revise” with him before asking him to chose, but he could already chose. Time to make new cards.. So back to the question. What do you want your child to learn and how do you want your child to learn. Are you teaching knowledge or are you teaching how to learn.. or could you teach knowledge and how to learn faster all at one go? Works for me.. not sure about you mummies out there.. comments?
