Iran edge Belarus in two tight friendly games 11th March The defending Asian champions beat the Belarusian side with extra-time and penalty-kick wins in two matches played in Teheran Iran and Belarus squared off in two different friendly matches last week in Teheran, with both wins falling on the hosts side. The Persian team, defending Asian and Intercontinental Cup Champions, found it hard to bend a combative European side, though. The combats were so balanced that regular time was not enough to decide the winner in none of the games. In the first one, Kianis winner for the hosts came in extra time, after the efforts of Klimchanka (Belarus) and Mokhtari (Iran) left the score apiece before the final whistle. The day after, things went even further, as only the penalty shootout could appoint one winner. Mokhtaris 3-3 in the last breath of the match sent the game into the supplementary 3 minutes, after Belarus had came from 2-1 behind to take the lead in the last stage of the game. Extra time saw the scoreboard remain untouched, and the shootout from the 9-meter distance appeared as the only way out to the game. From there, Team Melli proved better aimed, and captured a new win that extends their invincibility run.
