Iranian border guards fired at least six mortar shells into Pakistani territory in the early hours of Friday. However, no loss of life was reported in the explosions. “Iranian border guards fired four mortars at 4:00am on Friday which landed and exploded in open areas in Mashkail,” Assistant Commissioner Mashkail Asghar Syapad told The Express Tribune. The explosions rocked the Mashkail town and startled locals. However, the back-to-back explosions did not claim any lives and has caused no damage to property said the commissioner. Security forces and Levies personnel have arrived at the site of the explosions. In retaliation, Pakistani security forces fired two mortar shells towards the Iranian border, sources said. However, there have been no reports of mortar attacks in Iran. This is the fourth occasion that Iranian border guards have violated the Pakistani border over the past one week.
