Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has called on the international community to take action to put an end to the Israeli regime’s atrocities in the Gaza Strip. Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Zarif said the Palestinians in Gaza face “genocide,” adding that the international community should not further disgrace itself by remaining silent in the face of Israeli crimes. “We have repeatedly warned of this genocide conditions in Gaza,” he added. As the president of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Iran has played an active role since the outbreak of the ongoing crisis in the besieged enclave, he noted. Zarif said that Iran has held consultations with Arab and Muslim countries as well as some Western states. He called for a swift action to end the Israeli regime’s crimes against the Palestinians and lift the Gaza Strip’s blockade. The overall death toll of Israels relentless aerial and ground attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip over the past 27 consecutive days has reached 1,766, including over 400 children.
