Ireland Forecast Weekend / Next Week – Look Away Now ! October 18, 2013 Irl / N. Irl Very upset for the foreseeable future with plenty in the way of rain and showers, which may lead to flooding or bring thunderstorm activity at times. Wind will also be strong from the S/SW but at the moment there is not definite signs of any severe winds. However, due to the synoptic setup, we will be keeping a close eye on it. Friday Night is mild with temp’s around 11 to 13 degrees. Southerly winds easing as the night goes on. Rain dying out in many areas but rain or showers will return to some areas later, especially the east, southeast , south, southwest, west, and north. Some thunderstorm activity may occur in southern counties from Kerry to Wexford. Saturday sees spells of rain or showers in many areas and these will be heavy, possibly very heavy at times. Some thunderstorm activity is possible too with all areas at risk. A few bright spells may occur. Winds moderate to fresh, possibly strong near SW coastal areas. Temp’s, 14 in the NE to 17 in the inland west. Saturday Night sees some rain or showers continuing on and off. The west, south and southeast most at risk and again these may be heavy, possibly very heavy at times with a risk of some thunderstorm activity. Temp’s, 9 to 13 degrees, coolest in the NW, warmest in the SE. Winds are moderate to fresh southerly but strong along southern coasts. Sunday sees some showers around but not as widespread as Saturday, with eastern and western areas most at risk. Again, some thunderstorm activity is possible. There will be a few bright or sunny spells with the midlands getting the best chance of these. Temp’s, around 14 in the NE to 17 in the inland west. Winds will start moderate to fresh southerly but again, strong along southern coasts, easing in all areas later. Next week remains very upset as a train of depressions line up in the Atlantic. These will bring strong SW winds at times and will feed up spells of heavy rain and plenty of showers, which will bring a further risk of thunder and flooding at times. Remaining on the mild side. The theme will last up to the weekend at least. –-Ray
