Irene Dalis, who has just died, was a wonderful example of many things that people who care about opera should know of. This video recounts some of them. I want to point out that she and her siblings received very early education in music at a time when TV did not compete for their attention. Notice in the video how many youth choirs and orchestras there were when she was growing up.
