Irene Elizabeth Lawrence Sanders, first girl and fifth child seven, parents of a Swedish immigrant girl and an Ohio farm boy, came to Illinois from Ohio at 13 by train and covered wagon. Married Illinois farm boy Verse Sanders, had two children, nearly died, lived on passing on her skills to her daughter and a very young daughter-in-law, my mother, who became an excellent keepers of the hearth; cook, seamstresses, farm woman. Plus Maw Maw raised or helped raise three generations of children with her kind ways. Born this day, we miss you.
