Irony. Going in to vote and discovering that you are missing your wallet and hence your ID. You wondered why your purse felt lighter, but chalked it up to cleaning it out this AM. Nope, you cleaned it out and left the wallet sitting on the stovetop. Which is black. Like your wallet. So it was pretty much invisible. The poll worker knows you and is ready to check off your name. But you need your ID. Smile, drive home. Thankful it is under 5 miles. Turn around, go back and exercise a right and privilege that many have fought and died for. The irony, you wonder? In some states, you would have been encouraged to vote. Several times. Even if you were standing there obviously dead. (If you have not guessed, the above was me. My only worry was that i had dropped said wallet in the car hubby drove to work today. No worries. Off i go. Again.)
