Is A Long Life Possible? Most of us would say no! There are so many problems affecting our lives that a reasoning person could say no. After all, we still have wars, violence, sickness, limited food and clean water, along with housing and job insecurities. What about from a medical stand point, can we expect a longer life? The scientific community is looking deeply into epigenetics, the markers and chemicals that tell our DNA how to formulate. They believe the defects may be turned off before they occur, thus extending life. Do you trust their abilities? We have accomplished many things in this century, but extending life seems beyond the reach of man. The Good News is there was a promise made by God in Isaiah 25:8, which says: “He will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces. And the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for Jehovah himself has spoken [it].” How did God go about fulfilling this promise? We all know Jehovah God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to die us. (John 3:16) and that Jesus willingly gave his life for us. When we follow the bible counsel at John 3:36, which says: “He that exercises faith in the Son has everlasting life; he that disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains upon him.” Finally, the enemy of life will be done away with as 1Corinthians 15:26 tells us: “As the last enemy, death is to be brought to nothing.” We should understand that Jehovah God is looking forward to this promise being fulfilled. Not only does God love us, He loves justice as well. He gave us the desire to live forever as mentioned at Ecclesiastes 3:11, and by fulfilling this promise His loyal and righteous servants will have the means to live forever. Read Psalms 37:28, 29, which tells us: “For Jehovah is a lover of justice, And he will not leave his loyal ones. To time indefinite they will certainly be guarded; But as for the offspring of the wicked ones, they will indeed be cut off. 29 The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it.” What a beautiful display of God’s Love, Justice, Wisdom and Power in making possible for sinful people to gain everlasting life.
