Is Facebook depressing? I use Facebook as a social contact. I keep up with what friends are up to. I check up on family. It is a great way to exchange pictures. So I thought the talk of Facebook being depressing were exaggerated. I did a test. I scrolled down 5 hours of news feed. I was very surprised. Even though I am very careful to block what I know is going to be unpleasant, sad or depressing posts, I received 13 posts that fit into that category. After all my careful blocking of posts, I still got war, politics, religious prejudice, dead animals, and a whole stack of quackery! My observation is that Facebook is depressing.
