`Is Faith Still Faith? Is faith still faith when it is a faith in something that is absolutely known? Some religious people have has said that belief in God is not faith if it is absolutely known that God exists. They say there has to be room left for that “leap of faith.” Is this Biblical faith? “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen,” Heb. 11:1. The Hebrews writer says that faith is based off of evidence, which is a substance. Evidence does not lean itself upon the concept of faith being a leap in the dark. Evidence is something that one would use to prove something in a court of law. For a person to be proven guilty there has to be sufficient evidence to show that one has committed the action of which they are accused. Therefore if the Hebrew’s writer says that it is evidence upon which faith is based, then faith can not be a leap. Our faith, therefore, must be based upon the evidence God has supplied through His word and past actions. This should be a comfort to the believer. One does not have to take a leap in the dark, but has the proof and knowledge that God exists. Our faith in God is founded upon solid ground which God has supplied, 1 John 2:28. Jesse Claunch
