Is Financial Success Always Good? 1 Timothy 6:9-10 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. I recently visited the the beautiful country of Belize last week, and now that Im back in the states I have a greater appreciation for the basic things we think of as normal here. In America most of us have cars, ac units in our homes, an organized court system, paved roads, etc. These are luxuries that we take for granted everyday in this country and many countries wish they had it. I never realized how blessed we are as a nation until visiting a country that isnt nearly as developed as we are. Looking back at my trip, they have what we dont have hear in America: the importance of family, community, spending time with one another, kids playing outside, fresh food and fruits, and everyone knows one another. These attributes are more important than anything, yet here in America we have given these up to pursue more money. The selfish ambition to pursue it has destroyed this country, families, and our society. Im pretty sure Mcdonalds use to serve real meat to its customers when they first began, but now who knows what they serve people now to stay profitable. People are dying today by the experimental medicines being taken, injustices are happening in courts all over the country because of money, relationships and marriages are being thrown out the window in pursuits of it. You cant even expect a preacher to back what the Bible says anymore cause hes so afraid of losing members which are tied to him losing his source of income. He ultimately leads souls pass death, and walks them by hand into the gates of Hell itself. Whoever knew the love of money was that powerful? For some reason well give every hour of our lives to get more money which has done nothing for us, yet will argue ten different ways why we cannot give up the pursuance of money to go after the will of God who wakes us up every morning. Not only that, but sent His only Son to die and be tortured for us so that you and I might have eternal life. And we get up everyday, not even by our own strength, to do what the hell we want with no consideration of God at all. We as a nation, have given up everything that is success in the eyes of God, for what the world calls success. What have we become other than idol worshippers of ourselves and what we want? That type of life doesnt lead to Heaven, it leads to Hell. People always like to use the verse, What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? My question would be, Have you not already done that?
