Is Healthcare.gov a secure website because it crashes so often the hackers cant finish their nefarious exploits? I wrote a blog about two weeks ago chatising our government the the quasi political bureaucrats at CMS and HHS for breaking all their own rules on security and privacy of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Protected Health Information (PHI) with the launching of Healthcare.gov. The site has not undergone any of the risk assessments and security remediation that is required under HIPAA, HITECH and other regulations. Willful neglect by those in the private sector would get a company fined into bankruptcy and possible jail time for the executives. So I mused this morning about the fact that this train-wreck of a website hasnt been hacked yet and I came to three conclusions about why: 1. It has, but their is no logging, IDS, IPS, etc. so no one knows it has already been compromised. 2. It has, but they are not telling us. 3. And this is the most sad and funny reason... the hackers tried, but the system kept crashing so they were unsucessful.
