Is Hell forever punishment away from God? Believe it or not, the Bible does NOT teach that it is. I wanted to share something that I find pretty amazing. Check out 2 Peter 2:9, it says if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment As you may know, the New Testament was originally written in Greek and translated to English. The original Greek word we translated to punishment is kolazomenous from the root word kolazó. I did a study on this word and found some amazing things! The word really means to chastise or to restrain and to prune. You can check it out here: biblesuite/greek/2849.htm Hmmm, how can this be reconciled with a God who defines himself as Love in 1 John 4:8. I have yet to hear a sensible answer from man on this. But, could God reveal something amazing here? Let me share what I believe God has been showing me about this misunderstood teaching of man. God has been showing me that we have completely misunderstood the teaching/doctrine of Hell. We think it is forever punishment and torment for those who dont believe in Jesus and reject God. How could a God who defines himself as love do this? Would you punish your young child for not accepting a birthday gift by locking her up in a dark, scary room that was on fire for even an hour? Isnt this crazy!?! This is the point where those who teach Hell will say well, we just cant know the things of God. Sorry, that excuse doesnt cut it for me and it shouldnt for you either. I am here to tell you that our loving father loves us more than we can ever know. He knows that we cant even receive this love or understand it or him unless HE makes it happen inside us. We are all born in the darkness of human bodies with brains that were purposely unable to understand and know God. This was his plan. Why? Romans 11:32 tells us why. It says God has placed all people into the prison of their own disobedience (human bodies) so that he could be merciful to all people. He knows he cant punish us for rejecting something we cant even see or understand. That is totally obsurd! But, that is what we are taught by man. Luckily Gods ways are so much better than mans. I have been studying the doctrine of Hell for 18 months now and am more convinced than ever that it is completely not true as we know it. Hell is not forever punishment and separation from God who is love. Hell or Lake of fire judgment as the bible calls it is actually a refining and pruning of any and all remaining unrighteousness that is still in us. God will take all those that he never gave the gift of belief in Jesus and burn away the very thing that kept them from seeing the truth. It will be a spiritual fire more than anything, much like the trials and tribulations in our lives burn away our own unrighteousness (selfishness). It makes US stronger, more selfless, more giving, more loving. That my friend is the TRUE meaning of the Lake of Fire! Once a person has this all removed, they will immediately see the truth of Gods love and free gift of eternal life in Christ and become born again as a new spirit being to life forever! They will then be able to enter the gates at the new Jerusalem and eat of the tree of life. This is why God left the Gates OPEN in the New Jerusalam! See Rev 21:24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it. 25 In the daytime (for there will be no night there) its gates will never be closed Below this floating city of New Jerusalem is the Lake of fire on earth where God is refining ALL unbelievers and removing their unrighteousness (selfishness & unbelief) so they are born again as eternal spirits. Once they are, their name will be added to the book of life and they will fly up to enter the city by the gates. This can and will happen because of Col 1:20 that says and through Him (Jesus) to reconcile ALL things to Himself, having MADE PEACE through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven. and because of Gods will and plan he tells us in 2 Peter 3:9 that says The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. Finally, 1 John 2:2 says and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the WHOLE WORLD. Please take some time to read those verses over and think about what they are saying! These are RARELY EVER taught in Church because they are too good to be true! Gods will my friend is that ALL HUMANS change their mind about him which is called repentance and believe the truth. He can do this for us because through the blood of the cross he reconciled ALL THINGS to himself and forgave all sins for all times for everyone, the entire present fallen WORLD SYSTEM. God placed all humans in (spiritually) darkened human bodies/brains so that he could save EVERYONE! Rom 11:32 This is such great news that we have not seen nor believed. If you have an open heart and mind, God WILL reveal it to you and you will be amazed and awed by his GOODNESS! However, pride will blind us to this amazing goodness of God because pride secretly likes it when we are included and someone else is excluded. Mans (false) doctrines always create separation and exclude others. So, what exactly is this eternal punishment called Hell that man-made religion has used to scare us? It is Gods loving correction of ALL of humanity at the end of time. He will remove any remaining unrighteousness from them so they can finally see the truth of who they are and how good he is! It will be like a goldsmith who removes the dross from gold during the purification process. What will remain is PURE GOLD, the REAL PERSON they are! Here are a couple verses to think about. Pay close attention to the worlds I CAPITOLIZED. “But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a REFINERS FIRE and like FULLERS SOAP Malachi 3:2 each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work. 14 If any man’s work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, YET SO AS THROUGH FIRE. I pray the true God who truly is LOVE and loves all mankind will reveal this truth to you. Duane
