Is Jesus Christ Your Life ( Acts 11:25-26 ) Scripture Focus: Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul: And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch, And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. KJV Understanding the Text: Disciple: a follower and student of a mentor, teacher. Christian: ancient Greek word (Christos) which is a translation of the Hebrew word meaning the anointed one. Then add [ian] which is the Abrahamic monotheistic religion based on the oral teaching of Jesus of Nazareth as presented in the New Testament. Christianity is the worlds largest religion. The adherers of this religion believes that Jesus is the Son of God, fully divine and fully human and savior of humanity whose coming was prophesied in the Old Testament. Thus, Christians refer to Jesus as The Christ or The Messiah. Therefore, to be a Disciple of Jesus and His teachings we must take on a resemblance of Him. Not in appearance, or what we wear, not how much we have or dont have, not our social standing but what our character should reflect and present to the world that others will know us and that those that have no hope will see Jesus in us. Ask yourself Church, Am I a reflection of Jesus, in attitude, forgiveness, loving, sharing, faith, hope, encouragement, joy and peace. Church ask yourself am I like this? What does a Christian look like anyway? Lets look! Recipient of Christ: II Corinthians 5:17 Therefore is any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. If any receive Christ they will be marked with the attitude and mentality of repenting, believing, and forsaking sins. Luke 13:3 & 5 I tell you, Nay: except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Receiving means being in Him. Old friends, habits, and sinful pursuits drop off. A new life of faith, hope, love, joy and peace now reside within each person that has received Christ Jesus! Resemble Christ: 1 Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps. Take note of Jesus: He suffered, we likewise may be called to do the same! To follow Jesus will entail our thinking as to Christ, our verbiage in how we speak, what we do and where we go. We should seek to look for the positive and good, be kind, compassionate, and model understanding. Colossians 3:12-17 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on Charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called into one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom: teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and Father by him. Colossians 3:1-2 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God, Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Ambassadors For Christ: Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. II Corinthians 5:21 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christs stead, be ye reconciled to God. Church we are to represent Jesus at home, school, work and play. If fact everywhere! Yes even as missionaries. Isaiah 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord , and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. Reign With Christ: I Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Now Church that is not only shouting ground thats Holy Ground. Hear this Church those of us that are Christians; we Receive Christ, Resemble Christ, Represent Christ and we will also Reign with Christ. Heaven Bound: Colossians 3:4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Conclusion: Is Jesus Christ your life? Praise God if He is! If not He can be! Its very simple: A admit that you are a sinner, Romans 3:23. B believe in Jesus and what God has done, John 3:16. C confess Jesus and believe God raised Him from the dead, Romans 10:9
