Is Matt Davis Returning For The Vampire Diaries 100th - TopicsExpress

Is Matt Davis Returning For The Vampire Diaries 100th Episode? Can we be real with you? We miss Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis) something fierce on The Vampire Diaries. There are now two television shows on in the TVD-verse, and he isn’t on either of them. We know he’s dead — but when has that ever stopped anyone on this show before? With the 100th episode bringing many a fan favorite back to our screens, does that mean we’ll get to see Alaric come back from the Other Side? Characters back from the dead The news that characters will be back from the dead for the 100th episode certainly bodes well for our man Alaric. According to many a TVD cast member, there will be a massive-all cast scene featuring some faces we thought were gone for good. Paul Wesley (Stefan) described it like this: “It’s a big thing. Everyone is gathered. Everyone has a nice powwow. That’s why I tell everyone, when you die on The Vampire Diaries, you don’t really die on The Vampire Diaries.” Ain’t that the truth! The 100th episode seems to be a great deal about giving the fans what they want, and Alaric is a total fan favorite. If anyone’s coming back from the dead, it’s gotta be him, right? Aunt Jenna returns One of the deadest characters on TVD — in that she’s better at staying dead than most characters on this show — is Aunt Jenna (Sara Canning), who was offed by Klaus in the Season 2 finale. We know for sure that she will be back for the 100th episode, which means it’s pretty much fair game narratively for anyone’s return. Aunt Jenna’s return also gives Alaric the added edge, as he and Jenna were totally an item before she bit it. Sure, her relationships to Elena and Jeremy were important dynamics for her character, but she really came into her own as a character when we began to see her with Alaric. It’s hard to imagine seeing Aunt Jenna without Alaric in tow. Alternate reality We can’t help but speculate about why and how all of these characters will be back — especially considering TVD has already done the ghostly-return-of-its-dearly-departed storyline not once, but twice (first in Season 3’s tearjerker “Ghost World” and second in the Season 4 finale). Sure, they might do the ghost thing again, but that doesn’t seem epic enough for the big 1-0-0. Our money is on an alternate reality episode — i.e. “What if Elena’s parents never died? What if Stefan and Damon never came to Mystic Falls? What if Stefan didn’t rescue Elena from that car the first time?” If this is the case, there’s definitely room for Alaric in the story. We’ll leave you with this quote from Michael Trevino (Tyler) implying that not one, but all of our faves will be back for the 100th episode in a way that makes narrative sense: “A lot of maybe faces from the past, which is gonna be kind of neat ... Our brilliant writers found a way to kind of include all of them in one episode, believe it or not, to fit them all in and still make the story make sense.” Do you think Alaric will be back for the 1ooth episode? Why or why not? Sound off in the comments below! Catch the next episode of The Vampire Diaries on Thursday, November 21 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
