Is Mothers Day celebrated in Ireland? Yes, but in Ireland it is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Lent. The tradition of celebrating Mothering Sunday in Ireland originates from the medieval practice where children from poor families were sent to work as domestic servants and apprentices to the affluent. Once a year in the middle of the Lent, children were given a day off to visit their Mother Church and worship Virgin Mary. Afterwards, the children were allowed to visit their mothers and presented them with flowers they picked along the way. Honor your Mom next Sunday at Mc Menamins Old St. Francids Schools Mothers Day Brunch. Call 541-382-5174 for reservations,
