Is My Neighbor Too Heavy? Have we become a selfish generation, always in a hurry, and only have concerns for ourselves (self-centered). In a parable in (Luke 10:30-37) Jesus talked about the man that was robbed, beaten, and left on the side of the road for dead. The first two people that came by moved to the other side of the road, avoiding any contact with the injured man in need. The third person stopped and rendered kindness and love and helped the man to recover. Jesus said this third person was a neighbor. None of us are useless in this world as long as we are willing to lighten the burdens of someone else. Romans 15:1-3 Those of us who are strong and able in the faith need to step in and lend a hand to those who falter, and not just do what is most convenient for us. Strength is for service, not status. Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, How can I help? Thats exactly what Jesus did. He didnt make it easy for himself by avoiding peoples troubles, but waded right in and helped out. I took on the troubles of the troubled, is the way Scripture puts it. (The Message) Remember: We may sing like angels, preach and teach with great convictions, speak with unknown tongues and operate in the many gifts of the Bible, but without love, “It all means nothing.” God said that the greatest commandment is the love Him, and the second greatest commandment is to love other people. Listen, everything that we do hangs on the balances of love. Is My Neighbor Too Heavy? “Just like a good neighbor, Jesus is there and all those that follow Him.”
