Monday August 4, 2014 - Former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, on Sunday referred President Uhuru Kenyatta as a coward for trying to flee the country during CORD’s Saba Saba rally at Uhuru Park on July 7th. Addressing mourners at Oindo village, Karachuonyo in Homabay County during the burial of former Planning Minister, Adhu Awiti, on Saturday, Raila said in dholuo dialect that Uhuru made an unplanned visit to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) under the pretext that he was going to inspect the new Terminal 1A at the facility but his main reason was to flee the country if opposition storms State House. Raila said Uhuru feared that CORD supporters would storm State House and moved to the JKIA airport “ready to flee” the country. Raila also said the move to deploy several police officers to cordon off State House during their rally was cowardly. “He (President Kenyatta) thought that we would rally our supporters to storm State House. We were not stupid to make such a move,” Raila said He also slammed Jubilee leaders for saying the rally was anti-climax and their leader was at the airport fleeing from the “much hyped” CORD revolution.
