Is anyone else annoyed yet amused by the banal expression it is what it is’? I have heard this pithy utterance countless times, and have often wanted to challenge this ‘brain-trust’ expression with the following quip: It is what it is because it cannot be anything else. Inevitably, If it were anything else, quite simply, it would not be what it is! Can you see trails of smoke billowing out of someone’s ears? If only Oscar Wilde were still above-ground to lead this volley. Peace!
