Is anyone else having trouble adjusting to the time change and cold weather? Yeah, me to. We North Dakotans are used to it but adjusting each year tends to get tougher. I was able to cope today with the help of our Sales Professional Bud Etzold. He was kind enough to request I take the 2013 Lincoln MKZ for my Tuesday Test Drive and I’m certainly glad he did. Bud was in charge of the Z during our recent Lincoln Driven To Give event so he was very familiar with the attributes of the Lincoln and thought I might enjoy them. By golly, he was right. Everything you’d expect to enjoy from a luxury vehicle is found in the Lincoln MKZ. From the luxury leather seats to the touch slide controls, you are surrounded by the best. I’ve enjoyed the MKX as a test drive before and found many of my favorites from that vehicle carried over in the Z. However, there were a few new additions I added to my favs list. The MKZ is Lincoln’s mid-sized sedan and it packs plenty into its “mid size”. The trunk space is phenomenal. I ended up on a large shopping excursion during my drive. Loading things into AND out of the trunk was easy. Lots of trunk space is always a plus but the way Lincoln designed the Z’s space allows for easy unloading, not just loading. Oh, and you have to experience shutting the trunk door. No more slamming, no more worrying about the door coming down too fast on fingers, arms, etc. Really, stop by and just try it. The interior boasts plenty of space, especially for a mid-size, and the extras for your passengers are numerous. The rear passenger power outlets and center drop down console were two options I found appealing. The driver enjoys push button shifting and yeah, it’s super cool! Where your shifter once was is where you’ll now find even more storage space to tuck anything into. It’s such a fantastic design! Oh, and just ask me about the door lock lights. Go ahead, just ask…. On top of all the goodies that come along with the Lincoln my hands-down favorite is the power. So far you may have figured out that my favorite part of any of my drives is when I hit the interstate. That few seconds of acceleration while on the on-ramp is just a mini-rush. I was thrown into my seat while in the MKZ and was truly impressed with the power, handling and agility. But what really threw me for a loop is the information I gathered after my test drive. The amazing power I had beneath my hands and feet belonged to a V6! The supercharged 3.7L V6 is amazing. It gave me plenty of power without sacrificing gas mileage. Yeah, I’m sold! Thanks Bud for spoiling me with your recommendation today. The 2013 Lincoln MKZ certainly helped me snap out of the “winter is coming” blues.
