Is it a lack of humility or are we just so over-eager that anything less than a major shift is no big deal? That’s a decidedly self-defeating attitude considering that almost all of our progress is in baby steps. Even our major accomplishments will be the result of untold small advances and adjustments. We can’t afford not to take pride in our little achievements because sometimes, for a long time, that’s all we have. Our self-work is incremental and cumulative. Over time it has the ability to transform us if we will but embrace it on its terms. Come be a part of our community as we get well TOGETHER Thanks! #YOUR HEALING MOMENT Learning to love our baby steps. Our expectations and desires are wonderful as motivators but turn rather ugly when we let them drive our frustration, self-criticism and self-judgment. Self-work is a demanding process and we often are required to exert herculean efforts for minor progress. It is fine to dream big but most of the time we work small and as long as we keep at it all those little improvements really do add up. We chip away at our issues because, frankly, there is no other answer. We are re-writing programming but we aren’t computers. It takes time, patience and persistence to make permanent adjustments to ourselves. We may want the quick fix or the paradigm shift but mostly we get there in small successes and tiny triumphs. That’s okay. And it will feel okay if we make staying engaged and giving it our best our focus as opposed to how well we’re doing at the moment. Celebrate everything you do and have faith that over time all that effort will move much more than mere mountains. Good night & sweet dream
