Is it here yet? Not yet my sweet, not yet but the Cuba Futon that I booked over 3 weeks ago for a 7am-12pm delivery from Argos will be here soon. Im so excited. The morning of Friday 14/03/2014 started with such hope, excitement and the wide eyed trust of a poorly puppy for the much anticipated Cuba Futon that I booked over 3 weeks ago for a 7am-12pm delivery from Argos. This hope and trust turned out to be misplaced, misjudged and wholly unjustified. 12pm came and went, with no communication from office, warehouse or driver. After 2 phone calls at 1.30pm my sofa arrived, or at least some of it did. The delivery drivers were at pains to point out that firstly the missing box was not their fault and secondly it would be a lot easier all round if I accepted my partial Cuba Futon that I booked over 3 weeks ago for a 7am-12pm delivery from Argos and complained myself, instead of them doing it. Oh and it would take between 7 and 10 days. No apology, nothing. This precipitated another call to customer services where I managed to organise, after some amount of pushing mind you, the missing part to be delivered on Tuesday 18/03/2014. The magical day arrives, full of portent and expectation. Is that and Argos van I see? Theyre here, theyre here with the missing part of our sofa, God be praised, we will have goose for Christmas, God bless us everyone etc. Firstly your guys tried to deliver a fridge freezer, which I am not in need of and then gave me a duplicate of a box that I already have as opposed to box that I dont have, which is the one I really wanted if Im honest. When I told your driver that it was the wrong box he looked at me as if I had just asked him conjugate the verb to love in latin. I made yet another call to customer services, only to be told that a replacement part would not be available until 08/04/2014. It was at this point I resolved to cancel my order and buy a sofabed elsewhere. It then appears that Argos cannot collect the pointless bits of sofa that I have been warehousing for you for 4 days until next week. And only 5 days after this will I receive my full refund. That means all in all my money would have been in your bank for 6 weeks earning interest for Argos instead of being in my bank earning interest for me. No offer of any recompense at all and whilst Elaine, Steve, Michelle and Sue from customer service were very helpful and polite, they had no real authority to do anything and they were all hamstrung by the booking system, the ordering system and the shambolic free for all that the warehouse presumably refers to as a system. I await further developments. Also as a footnote, I took your survey about your customer service assistants and may I say, its not them you need to be checking, the service from your drivers has been nothing short of lacking, very poor.
