Is it just me and my disabled brain, or is the dissolution of the Republic a real possibility to any of you? Anybody else watch Rachel Maddow tonight? One segment, about the time during Reagans presidency when the U$ actually did default on our debts. Not because an agreement hadnt been reached. It had - the day before the due date. Unfortunately, the processes set in motion in preparation for the default were not instantly responsive. Lesson learned? Decide sooner. That would be Tuesday before Wall Street closes. If not signed, sealed, delivered before then, downgrading our national credit rating and credibility to global investors seems highly likely. Just the imaginable consequences are unlikely to be positive. How can the physical security of those knuckleheads in Congress be expected if those providing it know theyre doing it for free? Virtually everything we consume can no longer be trusted if there are no inspectors. Salmonella anyone? Glow-in-the-dark sushi from the Pacific, or GMOs in your babys formula? FEMA, FAA, WIC, mortgage/utility/credit card payments defaulted? Is there a Sandy on our Horizon, an Exxon Valdez, a declining supply of uncontaminated water, a Cat 5 Tornado, another Three Mile Fukushima or missing airliner? With Ted & Sarah putin on the stars & bars, do we look sane, or stable or worth investing in to any of you?
