Is it just me, or is anyone else thinking of the implications of the Sgt Bergdahl trade?? Since when do we negotiate? Anyone enlisting in our armed services, or drafted for that matter, takes an oath. This oath is neither negotiable nor does it have an expiration date.. I understand the joy felt by the family of the man released, but I must express my true feelings on what this means. The government traded 5 prisoners from Guantanamo Bay for him. Who in there right mind would even consider this?? What the government has in effect done is to put every American, military or vacationers, in danger. There are many reasons why the policy of non-negotiation has been in place - this is a glaring example of WHY this policy is in place. Do not misconstrue my patriotic feelings, but one of my brothers in arms who is captured as a prisoner of war is well aware of the consequences. We know, if we are captured, that this may be all there is, or we may be rescued, or repatriated, but we do NOT give ourselves or our country away. So, what has our present administration done?
