Is it just me or when casting people ask to think Robert Downey - TopicsExpress

Is it just me or when casting people ask to think Robert Downey Jr, Matt Damon etc it imposes a less than genuine style into these auditions? As VO people will tend to attempt to imitate the celebrities mentioned..it decreases the credibility of the audition..and the casting directors are left with a bunch of bad imitations... I would think to simply state conversational, warm, gritty etc would allow individual talent to work the copy in their own way. Otherwise..just call Robert Downey Jr. and pay the man.
