Is it just us and our luck or are things made to break?? I know - TopicsExpress

Is it just us and our luck or are things made to break?? I know the answer is YES and right now Im so beeped off that I have to rant and sound like an 85 year old..... Things arent made like they used to. Back in my day... A washing machine actually lasted for years. Back in my day blah blah blah. Now days the quality of most things is crap. Currently at our house we have a broken dishwasher. Thank you Electrolux. This thing is 5 years old and has stopped working three times. Ironically our warranty just ran out but if we buy a new one for $200, well get repairs for another 12 months so that in 14 months the thing will stop working and need all the same parts that it has needed for the other three times it broke. Next up.... The Samsung Dryer. Also close to 5 years old and in its young age has needed a new drum twice and is now going through some freaky mind-of-its own phase where is works for about 5 minutes and then just shuts off. Our computer screen is permanently on some fuzzy screen setting (something the kids did). Its been that way for months and we are just dealing because its another thing on the list Its kinda like looking at a screen without wearing your glasses.... This has nothing to do with how things are made but I wanted to add that in for effect. Next up, the iPad screen is totally cracked. I guess the cover we purchased didnt quite do its job. Nearly every charger we own has frayed cords and the remote to our tv just stopped working!! And that, my friends is when the beep hit the fan for me. If I cant even turn on my tv then thats when Lisa goes nuts. We all have our tipping points, right? Ill hand wash dishes, look at an iPad thru cracked glass, Ill hang clothes to dry or drive them over to my grandmas house to use her drier (which she probably bought back in day and it works great!), Ill look at my computer screen while risking the last bit of my good vision but, mess with my tv??? Thats it!! Now, the realist in me says, Lisa dont you know how lucky you are to have all these things, even of theyre broken. And, to that I say Absolutely YES! We can do without these and be okay buuuut, since we do have them, spent our hard earned money on them and they break.... I think thats ridiculous. Should we start making poor quality swimsuits so that our customers HAVE to purchase another one sooner than they should? NO!! The bottom line is, many things these days are not built to last but built to be used for a couple of years and then to be replaced again or to force you into another warranty. That stinks! What can we do about it? Not sure.... So for now, Ill hand wash some dishes as Im boycotting this whole warranty thing, Ill look at the iPad and try not to cut my finger and I promise you that I will continue to make sure that we keep making quality swimsuits built to last because thats the right thing to do. Meanwhile..... The new tv remote is getting fed-exed for Saturday delivery!!
