Is it really spring? This household seems to have Frozen over. That bloody movie has too many damn songs (though I think Rush couldve killed the Let It Go number, if they had only cast Geddy Lee), and Prince Hans isnt much of a villain. In fact, Lucia doesnt think hes villainous at all. Not gonna read anything into that for future times. Nothing at all. I will credit the flick for at least dispensing with the desperate princely search for a surrogate father (ultimately anyhow). Disney definitely seems to favor nature over nurture, since parenthood is apparently a death sentence in that realm. Growing up turns out to be strange sociological experiments in isolation. The kids end up pretty good-natured and sweet, though they do tend to anthropomorphize things like snowmen & teapots well into adolescence. They also break into fanciful musical interludes and imagine this bleak, uncaring world is capable of joining into song with them (Dancer in the Dark, anyone). At least I can still put on good stuff like My Neighbor Totoro. Though I just read on Cracked that there is a theory that those girls might plausibly have died by cartoons end. No. No spring this year, folks.
