Is it religion or people that is the problem? Say you look at 100 people. Ascertain their religious beliefs, even atheists are expressing religious beliefs. A belief in nothing is a belief. Agnostics are declaring a belief that one cannot know. So, you can draw from that that 100% of people have religious beliefs. Now assess Islamists. 100% of them are drawn from a random set of humans. Among humans, ALL of them with religious beliefs being eligible to be part of the group we are pulling from, there will be a certain group that is cruel, illogical, or ignorant. Some with anti-social beliefs that are deeply rooted in broken psyches. Some of those people will fall into the religious pools of EVERY religious group. And that is how you populate religion, which by itself poses no threat, with people who are dangerous. Its the people, not the religion.
