Is it too soon to share another of my projects? Raw Edge Quilted Applique Swirly Cushion designed by Greta Grama I saw this quilted wall hanging on Facebook yesterday, and was so inspired that I went straight to the designers website and downloaded the instructions. I made my version into a 20” cushion, with a button back so it can be laundered. I added piped edging for that special touch. I have no need of wall hangings, but cushions are always useful! The colour scheme is based on the colour wheel, and the fabrics are mostly Moda Solids appliqued to a cream background. The backing fabric is a cheater cloth double wedding ring, so don’t get too excited when you see that, it’s just fabric, not pieced! The quilting is adorable. I’ve never done such lovely FMQ feathers and am well pleased with the effect they have on the swirly pattern. I didn’t mark them out and got stuck in some corners, but que sera, overall they look great and I will definitely do them on another project. I took a photo of the back of the quilting before it was hidden inside the cushion. I love these button backed cushions, and going the extra mile to make them washable is well worth the effort when the time comes that someone spills some sticky mess onto it. So, there you go, 24 hours from start to finish with a little bit of rest and a walk along the river in between. Thanks for looking.
