Is it true that black stone of mekka from out space? Yes, it is - TopicsExpress

Is it true that black stone of mekka from out space? Yes, it is very likely a meteorite or piece from an meteor impact site. The exact properties are unknown, but one account tells it is able to float in water, which means it could be silica glass, like you can find at an Arabian impact site. But the background story in the legend and the visual properties suggest it is really a meteorite, that was broken into pieces centuries ago The colour appeared to me black and metallic, and the centre of the stone was sunk about two inches below the metallic circle. Round the sides was a reddish brown cement, almost level with the metal, and sloping down to the middle of the stone. The band is now a massive arch of gold or silver gilt. I found the aperture in which the stone is, one span and three fingers broad. (Quoted in Thomas Patrick Hughes, A Dictionary of Islam, p. 154. W. H. Allen & Co, 1885) Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Stone
