Is resistance ever a good thing? Hale Dwoskin, best-selling - TopicsExpress

Is resistance ever a good thing? Hale Dwoskin, best-selling author and teacher of "The Sedona Method" says "Resistance is the glue that holds all your suffering together." I offer a few thoughts about resistance in my article "Who is the Adversary?" from my Spiritual seed-Thought" blog: Who is the Adversary? The dictionary defines “adversary” as an enemy or foe, “one who has enmity at heart.” The Bible speaks of the adversary in numerous places. In the Old Testament we are told “the Lord will take vengeance upon his adversaries.” (Nahum 1:2 ) and in the New Testament, Peter refers to Satan as the Adversary, with a capital “A.”(1Pet.5) ) Jesus counsels us to “agree with thine adversary quickly, whilst thou art in the way with him.”(Matt. 5:25) Now let’s look at the word from a Truth perspective. What do these various statements mean? Who or what are our adversaries and how are we as Truth students to regard them? Our adversaries may seem to be those people, conditions or circumstances that appear hostile to us and would seek to inflict harm or bring us down. Because we know in Truth that there is only One Presence and One Power operative in our lives, we recognize that there can be nothing outside of ourselves that can hold us back, oppose us or derail the desires of our hearts. The adversary, then, is always within US, some attitude of mind or heart that is blocking our good or sabotaging our success. Since we know there is no power, force or entity outside of us that stalks us, seeking our ruin, when we read a statement such as “the Lord will seek vengeance upon his enemies” we understand it metaphysically to mean “the Lord –spiritual Law — will annihilate all seeming opposition because there is only one Law and it is Good.” When Jesus instructs us to agree with our adversaries quickly, he is telling us to immediately cease struggling with our adversary; in other words, stop resisting the apparently hostile situation and bring ourselves into harmonious alignment with that which would threaten us in any way. And how do we do this? Again, it is by knowing the Truth that there is no one and no thing that can stand against the Power of God because God is All-in-All and we are one WITH it. We read in Matthew “A man’s foes shall be they of his own household.” (Matt.10:36) Since “house” in the Bible refers to consciousness, we know that there can be no enemy, no adversary, except negative elements within our own thought household — our consciousness . We transform our enemies into friends by beholding the Christ –the inherent goodness, and potential for great blessing – in them. Today let’s affirm: No one and no thing can oppose me because I am one with God and God is All-in-All. pearlgem7.wordpress Powered by WordPress
