Is seems like the past 4 years in a row have been accompanied with women losing their lives at the first part of the New Year by the hands of their abuser. In all honesty, I feel like Ive failed many families, helping women find shelter, promising justice, trying to get stricter laws, hoping for lengthy prison sentences, etc. all to new avail. This year Im taking a different approach. Although in South Carolina it is against federal law for people convicted of domestic violence to buy, own, or possess guns, theres no mechanism in place to take away the guns they have. Based on this fact, victims of domestic violence should be encouraged to purchase guns, obtain their CWP and learn how to use the gun to protect themselves and their family. My plight is nonviolence however there is a definite need in South Carolina for women...and men who are being abused to learn to protect themselves. Some may disagree and for that I apologize but truth is were tired of the never ending stories of people dying for love.
