Is the Queen Mary an ocean liner or a building? Much like on - TopicsExpress

Is the Queen Mary an ocean liner or a building? Much like on ocean liners today, the decks of the Queen Mary were popular spots when she sailed. They were designed for passenger sports and leisure activities, including various deck and table games, exercise, tea service, sun bathing, a stroll for some fresh air, and a place to see and be seen. The color photo shows some recent publicity photos for the Queen Mary 2, showing a few of the outdoor deck activities you can do while at sea and are still popular with passengers. And the black and white photos are of a few deck amenities on the Queen Mary when she sailed. None are available on the original Queen Mary today. Many of the decks have even been closed off to guests or have been obliterated for restaurant space or kitchen service areas. The only official activities available on the decks today for guests are weddings. What is also lost and neglected on the Queen Mary is the experience of being on an ocean liner, especially one in the 1930s, which is why most people want to stay here. These were features that only passengers enjoyed, and are unique only to ships. Traces of the paint for the deck games still remain in places but they are forgotten about and fading away. This is another missed opportunity by the management that diminishes the experience of the Queen Mary and an amenity that could easily produce much needed revenue for the hotel, by only having to do very little and just simply benefit from what was there originally and is still there now. If management would stop turning their backs on what was original to the ship by doing everything they can to turn her into something else, they could have a truly unique destination instead of a typical hotel experience.
