Is the psychiatric industry really about the oppression of one - TopicsExpress

Is the psychiatric industry really about the oppression of one kind or type of people, one population, by another population that feels threatened not only by our extremes of emotion and perception but also by our creativity, insight, depth and passion?. They are often unable to comprehend where we go and how we experience reality. I do not know how many of my labelled friends have been told by their shrinks not to meditate, not to dream too much, to keep things limited and under control. Everything naturally finds its own resting place eventually. Is that not what they discovered at Diabasis? It is what I have discovered over the years. I do truly get freaked out quite frequently by my own reality. But I have strength and skills that I have developed over the long term almost medication free. I am free. If the industry really got a hold of me or had reason to suspect that I could not manage my reality, they would try to take control. I have evidence from others experience and my own. These are frightening thoughts but they are also freeing thoughts. There is ultimate freedom in taking responsibility for ones thoughts and behavior. There is freedom and safety in finding and developing trusting long term relationships. All of this in my life lies outside the mainstream mental so called health system. I have learned that paid helpers are not all that helpful to someone with my viewpoint. I do not trust them. I believe they have a purpose. I used to trust them. But somewhere along the line I ventured past a certain point in my personal reality. I do not want to go back. I does get a tad lonely out here though, beyond the boxes and the walls of accepted thinking and social interaction.
