Canadian Lorne Brown was pretty sure there was when he proposed driving the truck, fully loaded, from Fairbanks, Alaska, to his home in Inuvik, Northwest Territories. Once a year, every year, Lorne makes the 2,145 km roundtrip across the Arctic Circle to stock up on supplies not readily available in Inuvik – from sacks of cereal to stacks of lumber and cement. Resembling a small, gravelly country road rather than a major highway, the passage is treacherous. With no guard rails separating drivers from serious drops, it’s not for the faint of heart.
