Is there a community of artists and supporters in Oklahoma willing to contribute time and money to support social change art? The arts are a powerful and under-used force for change. In these times so many are cynical and despairing about issues such as social and cultural identity, war, racial injustice, poverty, and ecological devastation. Are there artists who have a commitment to making work in, with, by, for and about their communities, and those whose cultural work strives for social justice? What about the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition? Could OVAC provide leadership and funds for artists to work for social change?
