Is there a manual, a code book and a freaking map that holds the secrets of how women think? The reason for this question (the one in the entire universe that men crave an answer) is that last night, for reasons only she knows, my wife whined for a few long minutes about a towel I used. Yep, that was it - a towel. You see, I took this towel - this bone of contention - from the place where is usually hangs and returned it to a place near where it usually hangs. It wasnt like I was hiding the damn thing (I had flicked it over a chair). Anyway, five minutes after I had used it, Chico came looking for it and because it didnt jump up to her and say ,Here I am!, she got pissed. Did you take the towel? she barked at me, Where is it? she continued without giving me time to answer. You always do this. You take a towel and I can never find it.. Im sitting in my chair watching her lose it over the disappearance of a frigging towel. Have you hidden it? she asked after scoping out most of the kitchen floor. I was tempted to say, Yeah Ive hidden it and youve got three minutes to find it. Your time starts now! But I didnt. I pointed to a chair and said nothing. She followed my pointed finger and seeing the towel asked, Well what the hell is it doing there? I didnt answer - the question was rhetorical. Chico then launched into a ten minute tirade about the importance of keeping things in their correct place. I rolled my eyes, closed my ears, stared at my computer screen and whispered to myself, Let peace prevail. With her voice like white noise, I forced myself to concentrate on article about the death and destruction in Gaza - surely far more important than the position of towel.
