Is there any reason NOT to build a hoophouse with buttresses? I have 3/4 metal electrical conduit and connectors to join 2 lengths of it together to form 20 long bows, but that would only cover maybe12 of ground, or 2 of the 4 beds Id like to cover. If I tried to build 2 houses side-by-side over these beds, I fear there wouldnt be adequate space between them for snow removal. If, instead, I build this over the center two beds and add a T connector part way up on each side of the bows, I could add a lower arch on each side that extended from the T connector into the ground beyond the outer beds, which presumably would also strengthen the structure. A line of strapping just above the buttresses could secure the poly where the angle changed.
