Is there any rule that states that the blank must be designated as one of the twenty-six letters commonly used in American English? For example, if I hold AEIRS?? to start, can I play one blank on the star for zero points and designate it as an Å? Yes my opponent can challenge as Å is not a valid word, but if they dont challenge, there are no valid plays to be made and if I draw a one point tile I am guaranteed to win the game with a -6.
