Is this how a Republic dies? Cicero opens the meeting of the Senate after the short civil war has concluded. Gaius Octavian Caesar has defeated Marc Antony, beguiled Cicero into betraying Romes constitution in return for political peace and now seizes the Republic so that he can transform it. Brutus and Cato tried to protect the Republic, the constitution, and now are dead or are enemies of the Empire by declaration of the young, vengeful Octavian. Note the presence of armed escorts in the Senate (not allowed for over 500 years) as Octavian makes the point that HE is the Dictator of Rome! Now the law is what Octavian SAYS it is and Cicero is told to step away from my chair. All great Republics end the same way. The founders of America knew this; they did their best to hand us a republic that would not end in tyranny. Our republic IS going the same way..... and it is our turn to make corrections after our Senate (Congress) has failed US. If you read history, you already know what we have in store; do not fear it, as it is a normal part of the human experience to always seek the freedom and liberty that is given to us by God. Just know that the founders put our freedom and liberty into our hands; it is up to us to preserve the last place on earth that it exists in. youtu.be/F8hNaCnOdcw
