Is this our Falcon replacement? The next generation Taurus will go on sale in North America late in 2015. According to US press reports, the redesigned Taurus will ride on the same platform that underpins the Fusion. However, the architecture will reportedly be widened and extended to create a more accommodating cabin. We can also expect a significant weight reduction which is desperately needed. As the website points out, the Taurus SHO tips the scale at 2,020 kg which puts it in the same ballpark as the Audi A8 L. Engine options remain a mystery but we wouldnt be surprised if the Taurus was equipped with an assortment of EcoBoost engines (4 & 6). They will likely be paired to a new nine-speed automatic transmission which should improve performance and fuel efficiency. If everything pans out, the Taurus should go on sale in the third quarter of 2015 as a 2016 model.
