Isa 55 says the ways of God arent like the ways of man but what - TopicsExpress

Isa 55 says the ways of God arent like the ways of man but what does that mean? I have heard this thrown around in ways that make me so mad. So I am going to write about it. Specifically how is God not like man? In Isa 55 it is specifically meaning that God gives freely requiring nothing in exchange. Nothing. Nothing means No Thing. Man is different because he demands stuff in exchange. The availability of relationship with God is not an exchange. Isa 55 says it is like rain, which falls one way. We dont send rain back up. It comes down and waters everything and everybody, and causes life. God is love. That is the nature of God. The nature of man is to want ownership, to try and make it something he earned, to divide and conquer, to tell people they are out so we can charge them to get in, to qualify, to compromise, to barter and buy and please and earn. How do you know Gods blessings are on you? Are you breathing? Then in Him we live and move and have our being. There are also many ways God IS like us because we are created in His image. We love. We laugh. We have empathy (until religion deadens it). He is like us and we are like Him in many good ways and that is why Jesus used many common human situations in His parables to illustrate larger truths. He used family love, love of a shepherd for his sheep, the care of a farmer for his crops, the faithfulness of friends and the forgiveness of debts. We ARE like Him and He IS like us in many beautiful ways because we came from Him. He is not an alien or a monster. But in some ways, He is not like us. His love exceeds us. It isnt a foreign concept, but we just cant grasp the amount, the extent, of these good hints of Him which we see in us. So next time you hear someone say, oh, Gods ways are not our ways, and then use that to construct a monster God, you will know they are full of baloney.
