Isaiah 24 17 Terror and pit and snare await you, O people of the earth. What awaits you? A pit? A snare? An argument? Being treated unfairly? A harsh word? A difficult challenge? Bondage? Love? Grace? Mercy? They are all out there waiting their turn, but not necessarily patiently. Satan uses every opportunity to cause strife and dissention in our lives. He allows little issues or problems to arise and waits for us to turn to fleshly tools instead of Godly tools. We return a harsh word with a harsh word. We drag up something in the past that was already forgiven and supposedly forgotten. We manipulate others with guilt or regret. We aren’t outright evil in our own eyes most of the time, but we must admit we are playing on the devil’s playground. I remember a time when I was upset with my husband for something (apparently too trivial to remember) and I wanted to be so angry, but he said those dreaded words, “I’m sorry, will you forgive me?” “No”, I wanted to yell. I need to be mad. I want to be angry and fuss and tell you just how bad it was, how horrible you were just to make me feel better and to get it “all out”. He took a pin and busted my balloon of hatred by asking for forgiveness. He stopped the argument before it could cause a wedge between us and give satan a foothold in our relationship. It stopped satan in his tracks. How many of us look at problems or arguments as satan’s opportunity to enter our lives? Most of us don’t, but maybe we should. If we all looked at the big picture, and looked down on our issues from above (spiritually) we would see ourselves with our little pity parties, having hurt feelings and wanting to get revenge in one room with satan smiling and listening at the unlocked door….waiting for the perfect entrance. It only takes a second and the smallest of cracks in that door to let him in. He is here to kill, steal and destroy all you have and all you are in Christ. He is on a mission to separate you from the love of God in any way he can. Today, change your perspective. Change the way you see your actions and reactions. See them as an entrance for satan or they can be a lock on that door. Choose locking that door with God’s word, mercy and grace. Let Him fight your battles. Let Him get even. Let Him be the protector of your home and your heart. He is way more qualified and equipped than we are! Lord, thank you for opening our eyes to the real fight at hand – satans hold on our lives. Help us to seek you first in all things and to remember we can either lock the door to his evil deeds or open up the door to our hearts for Him to drag us away from You. Let us see clearly the spiritual battles we face daily not just the issues we see with our eyes. May your grace and mercy surround us all the days of our lives! In Jesus’ name we pray! Amen! Amen!
