Isaiah 31:1-4 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord! Yet he also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity. Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the Lord shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together. For thus hath the Lord spoken unto me, Like as the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the Lord of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof. As we look at this passage of scripture tonight, let us look at what the Lord says here. I know that we have discussed this before, but it seems to be a subject that we have a great deal of problem with. The Lord says woe unto them that go down to Egypt for help, and that trust in horses and men for help. In the book of Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to, Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. In Matthew 6:25-34 tells us, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Dear friends we need to learn to trust in the Lord and let Him lead us and guide us rather than trying to do everything on our own. I mean think about it, how often do we try to do things in our own ways only to mess it up? You know the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again but expect a different result. By that definition, how many us see insane? We need to learn to quit being so stubborn and allow God to have control!!!!!!!!!!! We know that God knows best, however we seem to have such a hard time letting go of the control and trusting God to follow Him. He tells us in 1 Peter 5 to cast all of our cares upon Him, for He careth for us. He tells us in Romans 8:28 that He works all things our for good to those that love Him, who are the called according to His purpose. He tells us all throughout His Word to trust in Him and He will provide all things for us. In Philippians 4:19 it says, But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. We just have to learn to trust in Him!!!!!!!!!!! Its like the title of that old show that used to come on years ago, Father Knows Best. Dear friends our Heavenly Father truly does know best!!!!!!!!!!!! He has everything already worked out even though you dont see it. Thats why He tells us to walk by faith and not by sight.
