Isaiah 53:1-3 Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. Here in Isaiah 53, prophetic language is used to describe the coming of Jesus Christ, and what that means for human kind. "The arm of the Lord" will be physically unremarkable, rejected, one who experience pain, and one who was considered insignificant. If you believe in Jesus, you realize that at some point in your life you have rejected Him, caused Him pain, or considered Him insignificant. The Holy Spirit works tirelessly in our lives to destroy the lies and reveal the truth to us: that we are sinners in need of a Savior, and that Savior is Jesus!
